These pets will be entered into a contest where the winners are chosen by you—the community! The prize: a featured spot in the 2027 PAWS of Southwest calendar, which will be available at the Fall Family Fest on October 11.

Voting will be online and take place here from July 18 through August 29, as well as in-person at the Southwest DC Community Center booth at the Saturday Farmers Market SW. On this page are photos from the shoot and individual photos of each pet for pet parents to save and download.

On June 6, we arrived at Waterfront Park and photographed 37 pets for our Pet Portrait Photo Shoot. Despite the heat, we set up a tent, and our photographer for this year, Rebel With a View, took beautiful photos of each pet and their personalities. We followed an appointment schedule that allowed us to take photos from 10 am to 1 pm with 5-minute reservations for each appointment. We also had small goodies for pet parents to take home after the shoot, such as doggie bags and treats.
